My Figure Drawing Website Debuts!

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 3:00 pm

Yes, at long last, after months of talking about it, thinking about it, changing designs and color schemes and just about everything I could find to fiddle with, my figure drawing website is up & running! HOORAY! This website features a whole lot of the figure drawings I have been doing over the past 2 & a half years or so, and many of the drawings are available for purchase. There’s also a big area devoted to information for guys interested in modelling for art classes and artists. I have been asked so many questions over the years about what it’s like, by guys interested in trying out posing or getting into it as a second job, I figured I’d create a FAQs page that would answer just about any question one could have on the topic. (Although I’m sure someone will find a question to ask that isn’t answered there; that’s OK, bring it on!). The address is www.gregfox.net (and remember, it’s “.net”, not “.com”, as someone already owns that one. The nerve! LOL). So, stop by and let me know what you think!

First Gay Crush?

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 1:26 am
  • I had a fun discussion recently with some friends about our first celebrity crushes. Specifically, that first guy who made us realize, “hmm, I seem to be attracted to men”. For me, it wasn’t really one guy, but it was a series of men who led me to that realization.
  • The first guy, way back in my pre-teen consciousness, may have been Richard Carpenter, of all people.

Yes, I loved Carpenters music, and yes, I was struck profoundly by the intimacy & warmth of Karen Carpenter’s voice. But I also found something warmly enticing about her talented blond older brother. If anything, he just seemed so nice!
  • Shortly after that, while still in my pre-teen years, I was enthralled by a Disney movie called “The World’s Greatest Athlete”.

Specifically, by the loincloth-wearing star Jan-Michael Vincent. I remember seeing it with a bunch of my friends from the neighborhood, but I don’t think it impacted them in quite the same way as it did me!
  • Of course, all of this was just a prelude to the 6-Million Dollar slab of hunkiness headed my way in the form of Lee Majors.

When that bionic beefcake launched himself into my awareness, in all of his hairy-chested, aw-shucks wonder, it became pretty hard to escape the conclusion that I wasn’t going to be getting the same sort of satisfaction from someone like, say, Farrah-Fawcett Majors, (although I loved her anyway!).
  • Finally, the one that really sealed the deal for me came soaring in from outer-space in the form of light-saber wielding Luke Skywalker, aka Mark Hamill.

While the Star Wars movie alone was enough to dazzle me for several months, it was Luke Skywalker who got my rockets firing in all the right places. (It’s interesting, when I see pictures of him now, how young he looks. Back then, he seemed so much older than me….like a long lost older brother or older cousin who I secretly wished would show up & be a part of my family).
  • So, there you have it…my string of pre-adolescent & adolescent celebrity teen crushes. And yes, I suppose there were others, but these are the ones that really made an impact on me. Maybe someday I’ll expand on the list, but for right now, I’d like to hear yours! That’s right, how about adding a comment here on this blog? I’m sure you’ve got someone you’d like to tell us about! Just click on the comments link below and share your experience; isn’t it time to let the world know about your teen heartthrob?

    Hot Times in Northport!

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 1:36 am

    Northport Summer Evening

Here’s a gorgeous pic of Northport harbor as sunset nears…a vista often glimpsed in the background of many Kyle’s B&B episodes, (if you weren’t too distracted by Brad in his briefs or Breyer’s chest hair!). Pretty as Northport is, it doesn’t escape the merciless heat & humidity that is typical of an east coast Summer. I think I’ve been pretty vocal about the fact that Summer is not my favorite season of the year. Here in Northport, (and in the New York area, in general), we are subjected to some brutally hot & humid summers, and this one is no exception. The past few weeks have been particularly inferno-like, (the temps hit 101 degrees last week, and for a few days were hovering around 100); thank God, though, today the heat appears to have lifted a bit.
I guess I didn’t always feel this way about Summer. But after growing up as a “ski kid”, and then 4 years in way-upstate New York for college, I adapted to the cooler seasons. (Not helping any of this is the rise in global warming and the concerns that that brings).
I suppose we are right in the middle of what is known as “the Dog Days of Summer”, the hottest part of the season. This usually lifts somewhere in mid-August, when we enter what I’ve always felt is the “fifth season” of the year….roughly from mid-August through the beginning of Fall. Call it what you will: Late Summer, the Harvest Season, or, (my favorite), the Sunflower Season. This is sort of a hybrid of Summer and Fall….still Summer, but not quite as hot. A taste of Autumn in the air. And those Sunflowers suddenly in bloom all over the place!
Well, when that “fifth season” kicks in I will be sure to let you know. For now, here we are still in the “dog days”…but hey, enough about this. It sounds like I’m whining and I don’t mean to. My goodness, I’m sure my friends in Houston & Dallas could tell me about some HOT summers! The important thing, whatever the temperature, wherever you happen to be, is to be living healthily, productively, joyfully. So, it’s a little hot…big deal! There are worse things to deal with. (And at least we get to see things like Jeff Olsen in a skin-tight swimsuit!). Until next-time…
